Goals & Regulatory Drivers

The Pollution Prevention (P2) Program is a central element in the Sandia Corporation (Sandia) Environmental Management System (EMS). Sandia’s P2 Program is multi-faceted and applies to all Sandia activities that use resources and generate waste. The program scope is guided by a plan which is updated annually, and includes promoting and implementing waste minimization, source reduction, recycling, resource conservation, sustainable design, and environmentally preferable purchasing. The plan applies to operations and associated support activities at Albuquerque, New Mexico (SNL/NM) and Livermore, California (SNL/CA) sites, and is linked to the P2 and Sustainable Environmental Stewardship goals in DOE Order 450.1 with annual performance targets.
